Although it seems like a polychrome x-ray, you’re looking at a photograph of a fish whose flesh has been rendered see-through and its skeleton dyed magenta. Japanese researchers have figured out how to turn the proteins (flesh and muscle) clear, while staining the bones a variety of neon colors. The process can take up to a year per critter, and the results are gaining popularity in art collections and hipster interior design. For more, check out this link. Via.

Quite incredible… scary looking, I wonder if it has effected the taste of the fish at all?
