Ever since word trickled out about Cheap Ski Movie, film auteurs have been salivating. Empty the drool cup, kids, cause it’s here–well, the teaser is, anyway, dropping just a couple of days ago, and the anticipation was well worth it: Cheap Ski Movie promises to be the best cheap ski movie since the last cheap ski movie.
Made for $60,000, Cheap Ski Movie chronicles the exploits of two cardboard ski-bum characters. Given the reputation for superficiality that skids are known for, some might call it a documentary. Perhaps “based on a true story” is more accurate.
But, in light of Frozen, which we declared “The Best Ski Movie Teaser in the Long and Glorious History of Ski Movie Teasers,” one must wonder which will better capture the elusive heart of the passionate powderhound. Will it be Cheap, which appeals to the skid in all of us, or Frozen, which titillates the atavistic fear handed down from our caveman ancestors of being stuck overnight on a chairlift? Only time will tell.
