‘Signatures’ Looks Like a Ski Movie With More Soul than Guts. Hallelujah.

Signatures is not ski pornography, and thank god for it. The new ski/snowboard/telemark movie is a sonnet, or maybe a love letter, an unabashedly romantic, even tender, look at a life spent sliding on snow, this time in Hokkaido, Japan. At least, that’s the case judging from the trailer and also from previous work from Sweetgrass Productions. I’m hoping the whole movie will be available for review soon–I’d been planning on running the trailer along with a review, but you know, it just snowed in the Tetons and I have skiing on the brain so I just can’t wait.

One very resonant quote from the film says, “There are so many approaches to the same line, and how you decide to express yourself on a slope reflects your style and personality.” The same can be said of making movies, too.

Thanks for sharing this film. It’s hard to believe on one of the hottest days of the year I’m even remotely thinking about the ski season. But here we are. I look forward to seeing it too.

Word. Thanks for sharing, I may not watch this to pump me up before a day on the hill, but it is more than good to fuel up on some soul before throwing some turns…

Cheers.

Refreshing. Capturing the essence of sliding from a physical, emotional and spiritual standpoint. Inspirational movie in many ways. thanks for sharing.

A great film by the Sweetgrass crew! The season is creeping closer everyday, we are getting a little antsy in our ski pantsies!!
