Top freeskier Shane McConkey died in a BASE jumping accident back in March, which you probably know, and it just plain sucks, which you also probably know, but there’s one bit of nice news regarding Shane, which is that K2 is releasing a McConkey tribute ski this fall.

Built on the innnovative, reverse-camber (think banana) Pontoon shape, which McConkey envisioned and helped bring to life, the commemorative ski will made in a limited run of 500, individually number pairs. Cost is $699 and all net sales go to McConkey’s family. Keep an eye out on the K2 website for more info.

For more on McConkey, see The Adventure Life coverage of his accident. For a complete list of links to sites about McConkey, see this page.
