It’s hard to find anything positive or happy to come out of Shane McConkey’s death in a BASE-jumping accident, but it’s also human nature to look, and while everybody sees something different, what I see is the almost unbelievable number of people that Shane touched, influenced, and inspired. The other small comfort is that McConkey’s heroic skiing, charisma, and pure damn funniness are widely and permanently saved in video, pictures, and interviews. McConkey will never be forgotten, and with his incredible body of work available at a click or two, he can still inspire, motivate, and get your ass upside down.
This is by no means a comprehensive list of links, but it represents the best, most thoughtful, important, and widely read of Shane’s presence online. By all means, feel free to add to it.

Thanks for pulling that together, Steve. I never was lucky enough to meet him, but from following him over the years, his humor and approach to life were as compelling as his skiing. My thoughts go to his family and friends.
